Research
Computational and theoretical condensed matter physics. Complex solids and liquids, using first-principles molecular dynamics based on density functional theory and on linear-scaling DFT. Oxide heterostructures including multiferroics; liquid water and water/solid interfaces (water in the figure); and non-adiabatic processes related to radiation damage of matter.
Research Opportunities
- Postdoctoral: Funded through grants and fellowships like Marie Curie or national ones (e.g. Feodor Lynen for Germans). Contact me if interested.
- Ph.D.: Projects are proposed each year. Information on how to apply for a PhD position in TCM can be found here, and this link provides information on the formal application process in the Department of Physics. Funding can be obtained by different routes, including Gates scholarships, Winton scholarships for PhD in the Physics of Sustainability, and other sources.
- Centre for Doctoral Training in Computational Methods for Materials Science: There are fully funded PhD studentships in this CDT programme, in which I participate.
- M.Phil.: One-year research projects. Formal details can be found here.
